All trips would cost $2.75, with no changes would be made to youth, senior or ORCA LIFT fare prices.

After receiving feedback from users like you, King County Metro is proposing a new, simpler flat fare structure.  All King County Metro bus rides would cost $2.75, regardless of time and distance ('zones') traveled.

According to Metro, about 65% of the customers would see no change or a fare reduction for their trips.  For the 35% of Metro boardings that happen in off-peak hours, those riders would see a $0.25 increase in their fares.

"You said you wanted simpler fares, and we made it happen. No matter where or when you ride, simpler is better. For people traveling from outside Seattle, this new fare means money in your pocket. For riders who may end up paying a little more, we’re making sure people with low incomes, seniors, and the disabled and have more access to transit than ever." — Dow Constantine, King County Executive

This simplification of fares should make it easier for new or infrequent riders to understand how to take transit and speed up the boarding process.

If passed, the new rates could go into effect by July 2018.
