Getting Around Redmond

Getting Around Redmond

Whether it’s by foot, rolling, transit, or a rideshare, getting around Redmond without a car has never been easier or more exciting.

TRANSIT

The City of Redmond offers a well-connected transit system for people that live, work, and visit, making it easy to navigate the City and the Puget Sound region.

Light Rail

The Sound Transit (ST) 2 Line serves Redmond with stations at Overlake Village, Redmond Technology, Marymoor Village, and Downtown Redmond. Light rail provides frequent and reliable service with trains running every 10 minutes connecting riders to Bellevue and in 2026 it will connect to Seattle and the broader region. To ride, use your ORCA card or Transit GO ticket at Station fare gates and board the train toward your destination. Light rail is a fast way to avoid traffic for work commutes or regional trips.

Bus

Buses operated by King County Metro and Sound Transit serve Redmond with frequent routes connecting Redmond neighborhoods to light rail, Bellevue, Seattle, and beyond. Bus riders can plan trips using the OneBusAway app, and pay with an ORCA card or a Transit GO ticket. To ride, tap your ORCA card or show your ticket, and enjoy easy connections to local regional destinations. Buses are a cost effective way to get around Redmond without driving alone.

RIDEMATCHING AND CARPOOLING

Carpooling gives you all of the benefits of driving alone, but is faster, less stressful, saves you money, reduces your environmental impact, and lets you bypass all those tolls and gridlock. Go Redmond can help connect you with other people traveling to work on your schedule and on your route with our Ridematching Program.

The RideShare Online Ridematching Program will find people who live in your neighborhood, work near you, and want to travel around the same time as you.

VANPOOL

Vanpools are a great option if you travel to work on a set schedule or if you are commuting from locations with limited bus access. They offer the flexibility and convenience of a car at reduced costs and with access to the HOV lane.

The van’s fuel, insurance, and maintenance are covered so you can get on the road to work! If there isn’t currently a Vanpool going your way, it’s easy to set up a new Vanpool at your worksite.

REDMOND COMMUNITY VAN

Community Van provides a transportation option for Redmond community members when transit service can’t meet their needs. Community Van can be used for doctor appointments, errands, airport trips, and other outings. Community Van provides six-passenger and 12-passenger vans for prescheduled trips. Trips can either be one time or reoccurring and must include two riders and one driver at a minimum. Destinations can be anywhere within a two-hour drive of Redmond and can occur any day of the week 24 hours a day.

Trips must be scheduled at least two business days in advance of a trip date through our Redmond Community Transportation Coordinator, who organizes all trips. Email communityvan@hopelink.org, call 425-943-6721, or text 833-202-3779 to arrange a trip.

If you have a long commute, buses and many Vanpools have bike racks so you can easily mix and match biking with a second alternative commute type. Light rail and buses also have bike racks for those who prefer to travel with their bikes. For those who prefer to park and lock their bikes, bike parking and storage can be found at most light rail stations.
